The Method for Cancer Chemotherapy in U-Thong Community Hospital

Abstract

     Chemotherapy is a standard method for cancer treatment. The opportunity for patients who close to hospital received standard chemotherapy for individual patient was very important events. Therefore, U-Thong Hospital created and applied cancer chemotherapy guideline in community hospital. Three stages of development for cancer chemotherapy guideline were: Stage I Documentation and Management for preparation and administration of chemotherapy (1 January 2004 - 30 June 2005) ; Stage II Clinical management improvement (1 July 2005 - 31 March 2007) ; and Stage III Continuous improvement process (1 April 2007 - present). The result of the improvement process was that pharmacists and nurses who involve in chemotherapy were safe under the preparation in Biological Safety Cabinet class Il and appropriate chemotherapy waste management for safety environment. Furthermore, all cancer patients are received efficiency and safety chemotherapy by multidisciplinary team.
