Retrospective Study of Accident in Childhood at U-thong Hospital from 1 Oct, 2006 to 30 Sept, 2007

Abstract

Objective : To study the epidemiology of childhood accidents in age group 0-15 years at U-thong hospital.

Method : information was retrospectively reviewed, From the emergency room registration, for all case diagnosed as childhood accidents in the age group 0-15 years form October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007.

Result : There were 982 cases, that was diagnosed as childhood accident. Of those 595 were male 60.59% and 387 were female 39.41%. The most common age group of childhood accidents was 0-5 years 30.09% and most of the cases 37.58% arrived at the hospital on 12.01-18.00 o’ clock. Falling accidents were the first leading causes of accidents in this study 31.26%. There were 244 cases 24.85% required hospital admission which most of the cases 71.72% had hospital stay for 1-3 days. The result of the treatment showed that 86.96% of injuries were cured within 1 week, 11.61% were cured within 3 month but more than 1 week, 5 cases 0.51% has organs loss, 9 cases 0.92% resulted in death
