Brucellosis in Western Region of Thailand

Abstract

          There were five cases of brucellosis patient reported in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi province, western region of Thailand between 2003-2005. Three were confirmed cases, two were suspected cases. All of them were associated with goat or unpasteurized goat’s milk consumption. Four of them were cured, but one suspected case was dead. Brucellosis is a zoonosis. Non-specific signs and symptoms of brucellosis led the physicion to diagnosis difficulty. History of occupation, exposure to animals, and ingestion of high risk foods should be obtained.
