Family Conference of Type 2 DM Patients Requiring Insulin Treatment at PCU 1, Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract

          A Prospective study in 22 cases of poor controlled type 2 DM patients at PCU 1, Ratchaburi Hospital during January 2005-December 2005. Average usase of insulin was 30 units/day. Average fasting blood sugar level was 274.3 mg%. Every case has phycho-social problem and conflict among family members. Relationship score was poor. Six months after Family Physician took a role in family conference with patients and family members who were caregivers, the result of treatment has improved. Average blood sugar level of fourth, fiveth and sixth month alter family conference were 151.7 mg%, 141.7 mg% and 129.3 mg% respechrely. Relationship score has also improved.
