Sucralfate Used in Pain Relief After Tonsillectomy

Abstract

Objective : To evaluate the efficacy of Sucralfate to relief pain after tonsillectomy and promote wound healing

Material & Methods : Thirty people, with indication for tonsillectomy except those have medical complication or with diagnosed of tumor of tonsil, were including in the study. The sides of tonsillectomy wound were defined as study (applied Sucralfate) and controlled side. All subjects will be randomly selected a side of tonsillectomy wound for applied Sucralfate. And then we evaluate all subject’s pain each side of tonsillectomy wound in Visual Analog Scale (VAS).

Result : On analysis, the study side that applied Sucralfate has the lower pain score since postoperative day 1 to day 6 significantly.

Conclusion : Sucralfate can relief postoperative tonsillectomy wound pain
