A Randomized Comparative Study in Treatment of Tinea Versicolor with 20% Sodium Thiosulfate and Miconazole Cream

Abstract

The antifungal efficacies of 20% sodium thiosullate and 1% miconazole cream were compared in 60 patients with tinea versicolor, randomized in both arms. There was no statistical difference in the efficacy of both groups with mycological cure rates of more than 90% after 2 and 4 weeks of the treatment. The improvement of skin hypopigmentation in both groups was no significantly different, neither. Both preparations were well tolerated by all the patients.
