Incidence of Disability from Road Traffic Injury of Inpatient in Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract

Six months surrey research for incidence of disability from road traffic accident patients that admit in Ratchaburi Hospital was performed from 26 Dec. 2005 to 25 Jun. 2006. There were 1,143 injured patients, after 6 month follow up, 5.43% of patients had disability that included by the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons Act and 1.57% patients had mild disability that cannot included. 72.92% of persons with disabilities were physical disorder. 51.25% of disable persons were caused by bone and joint injury which problems were joint stiffness and pain. Head injury caused 27.5% of disable persons but most of them had severe disability and multiple disorders. The average cost of treatment and rehabilitation of the disable person during admission was 53,252.11 Baht per person and 41.69 % of the total cost was supported from National Health Security Fund.
