The Effectiveness of Postoperative Pain Management with Spinal Opioids in Cesarean Section Patients at Banpong Hospital in 2 years

Abstract

The purposes of this research was to study effectiveness of postoperative pain management with spinal opioids in cesarean section patients at Banpong Hospital.

The number of cesarean section patients from 1 December 2005 to 30 November 2007 was 948 cases, had intrathecal opioids for postoperative pain management 885 cases, (93.36%). Analgesic effect time was about 24 hours. Mild surgical wound pain (pain score ≤ 2 and pain score 3-5) were 25.88% and 70.96%, all patients didn’t want analgesic drugs and satisfy with this technique. Frequent complication that was found in postoperative visit such as skin pruritus 31.64%, nausea vomiting 4.98% and both complication 18.80%. No respiratory depression was found in this study.
