Emergency Obstetric Hemorrhage, Uncontrolled Postpartum Hemorrhage : A Period of 5 years in Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital

Abstract

Retrospective study of 14 cases of emergency obstetric hysterectcmies among 14,757 deliveries, at Pahclpolpayuhasena Hospital from 2002 to 2006.

Most indications tor emergency hysterectomy were uterine atony (50%) and abnormal placentation (42.86%) which were placenta accreta 3 cases, placenta increta 2 cases and placenta previa 1 case.

The risk factor for emergency hysterectomy were advance maternal age and prolonged labour. In this study, there was one case of severe complication (DIC, pulmonary edema and reexplore Iaparotomy for remove blood clot) but there was no maternal mortality from direct cause.
