Pulse Corticostsroids and Cyclophosphamide in Paraquat Poisoning

Abstract

          A 2 year old Down syndrome girl presented with paraquat poisoning. This agrochemical is very dangerous and ingestion in small amount can be lethal. The severity of the patient’s symptom is categorized as moderately toxic with an associated mortality rate of 70-80%. This patient survived after recieving steroids and cyclophosphamide. This paper presents a new guideline for the treatment of paraquat poisoning in order to improve the management for other similar cases.
