Factors Affecting Sexual Behavior of Students in Vocational Education College, Samutsongkram Province

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were to 1) study sexual behavior and 2) factors related and affecting to sexual behavior of adolescents in vocational education college in Samutsongkram province. The study samples comprised of 274 vocational education students, year 1-3, Data collection was conducted by questionnaires developed by researcher. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test and Stepwise multiple regression analysis were employed.

Major findings:

          Most of the samples were male (53.6%), average age 17.10 years (S.D. = 1.11), studied in second year, average expenses per month 1,607.70 baht (S.D. = 930.33), no saving of money (45.3%).

          In aspect of factors affecting sexual behavior; we found that sex, education level, monthly income, sufficiently income, sex and contraceptive knowledge, sex attitude, family relationship, sex stimulations (drank alcohol, read erotic book, saw erotic film, watching erotic V.D.O.), contacted friend symbol (read erotic book, saw erotic film, watch erotic V.D.O. and having sexual intercourse.

          When we applied stepwise multiple regression analysis; we found that sex opinion, monthly income, sex and contraceptive knowledge could co-predict sexual behavior of the vocational education students in Samutsongkram province about 22.0%.
