Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever During Pregnancy

Abstract

          A woman with term pregnancy was admitted because of acute febrile illness. On the 5th  day of lever cesarean section was done because of fetal distress. The operation was uneventful. She was transfused because of anemia on the second day postoperative. There was no apparent site of bleeding. The infant was healthy until 16 hours after birth when high fever developed, petechiae and hepatomegaly followed. He was well after 5 day of fever. Investigation revealed dengue-1 infection in mother and infant. ln dengue endemic area, obstetricians should be aware of dengue infection in pregnant women presented with high fever.
