Abstract

Objective : To identify risk factors for postanesthetic shivering and incidence of postanesthetic shivering

Study design : Cross- sectional study

Material and Method : Potential risk factors for postanesthetic shivering were recorded in 367 patients. Gender, increment 20 years old age, anesthetic technique, increment of 30 minute anesthetic time, received blood and blood component and type of operation were recorded. The data were analysed with mean, standard deviation, chi-square and spearman, rho, P-value < 0.05 indicated statistically significant.

Result : The incidence of postanesthetic shivering was 20.44%. There were three risk factors : anesthetic technique and increment of 30 minute anesthetic time interval, with increment 20 years old interval being the most important.

Conclusion : The incidence of postanesthetic shivering was 20.44%. There were three risk factors : anesthetic technique and increment 30 minute anesthetic time interval, with increment 20 years old interval being the most important.
