Child Developmental and Behavioral Problems in Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract

Objective:   To study developmental and behavioral problems in children at Ratchaburi Hospital and collect data for evaluation and planning the treatment program.

Material and Method: Retrospective study was done on patients who attended Developmental Clinic for evaluation and treatment from October 2000 to May 2002.

Results:  87 patients who attended Developmental clinic, mostly were Autism and related Disorders (40.23%) and these were the group that more likely came to visit the physician. The second most common cause were learning problems especially Mild MR, ADHD and Autism when they had been trained and about to go to school ; and also included behavioral problems from child rearings. The largest group of patients came from Ratchaburi Province ; almost of them were from Amphoe Muang and the others were from Potharam and Damnoensaduak.

Conclusion:  Developmental and Behavioral problems are not uncommon now a day ; otherwise these may be the problems that multidisclipinary team such as pediatricians, the parents, teachers, psychologists, occupational and rehabilitation therapist ; also included social workers to help and support the patients appropiately. Lest that the problems may be complex and become the burden of social in the future.
