A Decade of Antiinfective Drug Utilization at Makaruk Hospital

Abstract

Utilization of 78 antiinfective drugs at Makaruk hospital from B.E 2535 to 2544 fiscal years was analyzed. It showed that the penicillin group was used at the highest quantity and cost the most. Its average quantity and cost per year was 67.40% and 39.49% respectively of the total drugs. The next most usage was co-trimoxazole, its average quantity of using per year was 14.12% of the total drugs. The next costliest group was cephalosporins. Its average cost per year was 24.87% of the whole drug cost. The highest quantity and the highest cost drug was amoxycillin 250 mg.cap. Its average quantity and cost per year was 24.4% and 13.05% respectively of the total drugs. The highest quantity and the highest cost drug in the cephalosporin group was ceftriaxone inj. Its average quantity and cost per year was 38.12% and 33.83% respectively. A comparison of quantity and cost of utilization of all drug groups of each  year showed no significant difference (p>0.05).
