The Participation of People in Muang District for the Prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

Abstract

          The purpose of this research was to study the levels of participation of Phrae people in Muang Destrict in the prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and to study the factors that influence their participation. The data collection was in the form of descriptive research through questionaires from 370 samples in April - June 2001. The statistical data was used for descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of the varience.

          The result of this research indicated that the participation of Phrae people in Muang District for the prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic fever was moderate. The factors that non-significantly Influenced the difference of people’s participation were age, education level, career and period of living in the community. The factors that significantly influenced their participation were community member's understanding of disease risk, degree of danger, benefit of perception, historical data from family, and whether or not community member is a group member in the community (P<0.001).

          The study found that the people in the community should increase their participation to prevent Dengue Hemorrhaglc Fever and the local government sectors should encourage and develop the capacity and efficiency of their people so that they can depend on themselves by receiving more knowledge about the prevention and control of Dengue Hemorrhagic fever in there community.
