Abstract

An lntradural mass was found in the upper lumbar area of a 33-year-old male who presented with paraparesis and constipation. The growth was located in the thoracolumbar area. Histopathology of the hematoxylin-eosin stained sections proved this tumour to be paraganglioma. Immunohistochemistry for synaptophysin and chromogranin confirmed the diagnosis. Paraganglioma of the spinal cord is rare, mostly found in the cauda equina area; only over a hundred cases have been reported in the world literature.
