The Study of Technics for Hemosfasis and Risk Factors of Blood Loss in Suprapubic Prostatectomy in Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital

Abstract

This is a retrospective analytical study of technics for hemostasis and risk factors of blood loss in suprapubic prostatectomy of 44 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy in Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital during January 1991 to December 1993. The findings were as follows. A removable purse-string suture around the bladder neck over the urethral catheter for separation of the prostatic fossa from the bladder cavity was the technic for maximal hemostasis in suprapubic prostatectomy.

The factors of age, pre-operative systolic blood pressure, weight of gland were not significantly related to blood loss insuprapubic prostatectomy but it was related to the operating time.
