A Two Years Study of Tcu 380A Intrauterine Contraceptive Device

Abstract

A study of Tcu 380A user’s Acceptance initiated in June 1995, was carried to the completion of 2 years of observation. The 200 users, whose median age was 26.8 years and average parity was 1.4. The average income was 4,985 baht per month. At the end of 2 years, the cumulative net pregnancy rate was 0 per 100 women, expulsion rates at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months were 2.5, 4.5, 6.5. 7.5 and 10.7 respectively, removal due to bleeding and pain were 2.0 4.0, 5.0, 8.0 and 10.9 respectively and the continuation rates were 95.0, 91.0, 86.0, 74.8 and 60.1 respectively.

Compared with other IUDs, the Tcu 380A had high effective against pregnancy but the expulsion rate and the removals due to bleeding and pain were about equally effective. However the CuT 380A is one of lUDs extremely effective for protection pregnancy and satisfied outcome through 2 years of use.
