Abstract

The most common tumor of oral mucosa is fibroma, which is a benign connective tissue tumor. Most of the oral fibromas are in fact hyperplasias of fibrous tissue caused by irritation, so they may be called irritation fibromas. The fibromas have tendency for recurrence after removing. A case report of 54 years’ old Thai woman, the patients had the traumatic ulcer due to lower full denture at the lingual of the gingiva about # 33, # 34, # 35 and # 36. This ulcer changed to the tumor mass. Pathologic finding were disclosed as irritation fibroma. Total excision of the tumor mass was the choice of treatment under local anesthesia. This case report may be useful to the patient. The denture which has long been in use or the denture which is loosing should be checked by the dentist.
