Pediatric AIDS Clinic in Prachomklao Hospital

Abstract

During January 1995 to December 1996, There were 119 patients of Pediatric AIDS Clinic in Prachomklao hospital. 70 patients had completed follow up. 18 infants of HIV positive mothers were older than 18 months. Of these, 7 were HIV infected confirmed by positive Western Blot. The perinatal transmission rate was 38.88%. CD4 count and Ratio of CD4: CD8 of HIV infected infants was significantly lower than those who were not infected. But no different in sex, gestational ages and mode of delivery. 25 of all patients had symptom and signs of AIDS. Almost all of these began at the age less than 18 months. The cause of death in these patients was Pneumonia.
