Abstract

The purposes of this report were to study the nursing care needed and nursing care received by the patients in the Obstetrics Gynecology Operating Room at Siriraj Hospital and compare them during the period of preoperation, intraoperation and postoperation. Questionnaire and interviewing 199 patients during February 1, to May 31, 1999, collected all data. Statistical analysis used in this study included frequencies, percentages, arithmetic means, standard deviations and pair t-test.

From this study we found that:

Patients' nursing care needed showed a higher level than nursing care received during the periods of preoperation, interoperation and postoperation with statistically significant differences. (p < .001)

These findings provided useful information to nurses at the Obstetrics Gynecology Operating Division, used as guidelines to give the patients proper service corresponding to their need.
