Abstract

Traumatic hyphema has uncertain prognosis due to hyphema itself, its complications and associated ocular injuries. During 1994-1996 at Banpong hospital 50 patients mostly children were admitted, medical treatments were given first and surgical interventions were performed later in cases of uncontrolled glaucoma. Timing of surgery should be 72 hours after medical treatment. Patients with total hyphema and secondary hyphema had the worst prognosis. Prevention needs coperation of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and Ministry of Public Health.
