Ender Nailing in Ipsilateral Fractures of Proximal Femur and Femoral Shaft Fractures

Abstract

A report of 10 cases of ipsilateral fractures of proximal femur and femoral shaft fractures treated by Ender nailing from May 1992 to June 1996. Bony unions were achieved in all cases. Advantages of this method are one implant for two fractures sites, uncomplicated surgical procedure, rapid healing of fractures and low cost of implant. Disadvantages are delayed weight bearing, knee irritation or limited knee motion in some cases.
