Abstract

Surgically induced astigmatism after manual extracapsular Cataract extraction 16 mm. incision with 6.5 mm. PMMA intraoccular Lens implantation in capsular bag using 5 stitchs suture for 32 cases compared with after phacoemulsification procedure 6 mm. clear cornea incision with 5.25 mm. PMMA intraoccular Lens implant in capsular bag sutureless for 31 cases.

Comparative study of the two procedures post operative astigmatism at one day, one week, two week, one month, two months, revealed that ECCE + IOL had more astigmatism than that of phacoemulsilication technique.
