Incidence of Hearing Loss at Somdeiphraputthalertla Hospital : 5 years study

Abstract

A five - year retrospective study of patients presented with the symptom of hearing loss in Somdejphraputthalertla hospital was conducted from August 1991 to July 1996. 290 patients were further investigated by audiogram. We found abnormal hearings in 247 patients. As the causes, the amount of the conductive hearing loss, the sensorineural hearing loss, and the mixed hearing loss, were 20(8.10%), 188(76.11%), and 39(15.79%) respectively.

The patients presented with sensorineural hearing loss were abruptedly increased in the late 3 years, and mostly appeared from the age of 20. This high incidence ought not occur in these working young people.
