Otitis Media in Ban-Pong Hospital

Abstract

All cases of otitis  media operated at Ban-Pong hospital in Rachaburi province during three years period of 1992-1994 were analysed. About 50% of all cases occured in the age of 20-40 year old. The cause of otitis media were eustachian tube obstruction, chronic or recurrent nose and throat infection and altered defense mechanism of the host. The complication of otitis media in Ban-Pong hospital were post auricular abscess from Cholesteatoma, facial palsy, meningitis and brain abscess.
