Study on Administration of Immunization in Possible Rabies Post-Exposure Patients’ at Prachuabkhirikhan Hospital.

Abstract

          Study on administration of immunization in 40 possible rabies post-exposure patients attending Prachuabkhirikhan hospital between February-May, 1993 has been investigated compared with 42 patients between February-May, 1994. The administration was based on standard criteria designed by Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee for treatment of patients exposed to rabid animals. Assessment on the administration of immunization in patients between the first period was done and reported to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee for impovement of clinicians’ administration by a conference, distributing standard regimens and an inducement to use the standard criteria. The administration was assessed again in patients between the second period. The study showed that administration of immunization in patients between the first period and between the second period were different from the standard criteria in 50% and 16.7% respectively. This assessment of administion was significantly associated with the improvement on clinicians’ administration (p < 0.05).
