The Study of Nosocomial Infection in Makarak Hospital From 1992 to 1994

Abstract

          Three-year observation of nosocomial infection in Makarak hospital was done from 1992 to 1994. The prevalence of nosocomial infection was 0.3%, 0.4%, and 0.4% respectively. The highest infection rate occured in intensive care unit. Lower respiratory tract infection and surgical wound infection were the highest site of infection and followed by urinary tract infection. Ps. AERUGINOSA, K. PNEUMONIAE and E. COLI were the most common bacterial isolated. The cost of antibiotic used in 1994, were 282,671 baht. Blenderized diet, drinking water and antiseptic solutions were sampling for bacterial culture that caused a big problem to be solved.
