Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy : The First 40 Cases at Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract

          This study reviewed the first 40 Laparoscopic cholecystectomies performed since January 1994 to January 1995 at Ratchaburi hospital. Patients presented with chronic choIecystitis (12), acute choIecystitis (10), symtomatic choleIithiasis (18). The operating time ranged from 45 minutes to 185 minutes (mean : 74 minutes). The operating time had been decreasing in the subsequent case. Three cases were convened to open cholecystectcmy because of leakage of cystic duct stump, retained wall of gall bladder and uncontrolled bleeding from gall bladder bed. The hospital stay ranged from 2 days to 28 days (mean : 5.2 days). Every patient had minimal postoperative pain and there was no mortality.
