Head lnjury from Traffic Accident in Nakhonpathom Hospital I.C.U.

Abstract

          A retrospective study of head injuried patient from traffic accident in intensive care unit Nakhonpathom hospital during 1992-1994 was found as follows. There were 653 cases, 64.5% aged between 11-30 years old. The ratio of male and female were 4: 1, most of the victims were labours, 71.7% were motercycle accidents, 33.8% had cerebral confusion, the mortality rate was 50.2%. The primarily causes of mortality due to severe primary brain injury. Cost of medical care of these patients in the hospital was 3,223,125 per year.
