Chemical and Drug Poisoning in Children: 3 Years Retrospective Study in Somdejphrasangkharaj 17th Hospital

Abstract

The retrospective study of chemical and drug poisoning in children was reported between January 1989 and December 1991, in Somdejphrasangkharaj 17th  Hospital. Fortyeight cases were revealed. The ratio of male and female patient was 1:1. Four groups of children were divided by age, that were below one year old, 1-5 years old, 6-11 years old and 12-15 years old. Most of the patients were 1-5 years old, which were 27 cases (56.2%). Metoclopramide was a common drug that was found in 14 cases (29.2%). Major cause was attributed to accidental ingestion. There were 24 cases (50.0%).
