Incidence of Nosocomial Infections in Prachuabkhirikhan Hospital 1990-1991

Abstract

Analysis of nosocomial infections in Prachuabkhirikhan Hospital was done by retrospective study. The incidence of nosocomial infections was 1.52% in 1990 and 1.65% 1991. The highest infection rate was in new born ward, intensive care unit and orthopedic ward respectively. Surgical wound infections were the highest followed by lower respiratory tract and urinary tract infection. E.coli, aeroginosa, and K. Pneumoniae were the most common bacteria isolated. Antimicrobials were prescribed in 95.9 - 96.45% of patients.
