Preference of Herbal Medicines, A Study in Samutsongkram

Abstract

Utilization of Mawang and Senna tablets, two herbal medicines produced by Pharmaceutical Organization, was evaluated from prescribers and patients in Samutsongkram health institutes.

Prescribers, who were doctors in community hospitals and officers in health centers, confident in the drugs effectiveness was the main reason to prescribing (86.28%), 74.51% of prescribers used to take the drugs themselves, Most prescribers were satisfied with the dosage form. packing size, price and container of the drugs. In the patient group, 27.57% had prior experience in herbal drugs; of this subgroup 85.52% got their first herbal prescriptions from hospitals or health centers. Most patients were contented with physical appearance of drugs, while 76.24% contended that they would appreciate being prescribed again.
