Abstract

stellate ganglion block procedure was performed on 7 patients in Ratchaburi Hospital during a 16-month period ending June 1991. All the patients suffered from posttraumatic chronic pain possibly caused by autonomic overstimulation the procedure is an application of nerve block technique and is aimed to suppress the activity of the ganglion. This study demonstrates that the technique is applicable in lessening pain caused by autonomic overstimulation, in differentiating this condition from other causes, and in helping further operative planning. However, the maneuver is not without complications.
