Treatment of Furcation Involvement in Periodontal Combined with Prosthetics

Abstract

          A case report of a 59 years old female. The intraoral examination showed localized advanced periodontitis. The lower left first molar had bone loss on the distal surface. ln the furcation there was a millimeter deep pocket and a profound furcation involvement was planned from radiographic film. The lower left first molar was treated with root canal treatment oral hemisection of periodontal surgery in order to prevent a furcation topography. Post surgery, the patient was recalled peroidically. Six months after surgery the results were satisfactory. Fixed bridge of dental substitution was designed by using the lower left second molar and the mesial root of the left first molar as an abutment of bridge. The patient still has his tooth and can use for six years in follow up.
