Prevalence and Factors Related to Female Sexual Dysfunction in the Nursing Professions at Krathumbaen Hospital, Samut Sakhon Province

Abstract

ABSTRACT

          Objective: This study was aimed to study the prevalence and factors related to female sexual dysfunction in the nursing professions, Krathumbaen Hospital, Samut Sakhon Province.

          Methods: A cross-sectional study was done. The samples were 297 nursing professions (including nurses and nursing assistants) in Krathumbaen Hospital. The questionnaires was used for data collection from 1-31 March 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square and Fisher’s exact test.

            Results: The study found that of a total of 138 respondents, 76 had Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) scored  <26.55 (55.1%). The total average score was 25.34 (SD = 4.50), average sexual desire score was 3.3 (SD = 0.87), average arousal score was 3.95 (SD = 0.97), average lubrication score was 4.67 (SD = 1.10), average orgasm score was 4.32 (SD = 1.08), average satisfaction score was 4.88 (SD = 1.00), average pain score was 4.21 (SD = 1.16).When comparing data between normal group and female sexual dysfunction group, the age range and marital status were not statistically significant (p> .05), but nursing position (nurse or nursing assistant)  , education level, estimated frequency of intercourse were found that there are statistically significant differences (p <.05).

              Conclusion: The prevalence of female sexual dysfunction in the nursing professions, Krathumbaen Hospital, Samut Sakhon province is 55.1 percent.The relating factors are the nursing position, education, the estimated frequency of intercourse.
