Abstract

Objective: 1) To study social support, self-efficacy, and self-care behaviors, 2) to compare self-care behaviors across demographic variables, and 3) to explore the relationship between social support, self-efficacy, and self-care behaviors.

Methods: This descriptive research was conducted among 347 hypertensive patients with uncontrolled blood pressure in Bang Phae District, Ratchaburi Province. Data were collected using structured interviews on demographic information, social support, self-efficacy, and self-care behaviors. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test, ANOVA, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient.

Results: Both social support and self-efficacy were rated as high. Self-care behaviors were rated as very good. Differences in age and place of residence are associated with variations in self-care behaviors. There was a positive correlation between social support and self-efficacy with self-care behaviors.
Conclusion: The research findings indicate that social support and self-efficacy are related to self-care behaviors. Additionally, factors such as age and place of residence influence these behaviors. The recommendation is to develop strategies to effectively support patients in managing their own health.
