Treatment of Human Brucellosis: Two Cases Report in Kampangsean Hospital

Abstract

     Brucellosis is a zoonosis trassmitted to human from infected animals by ingestion of infected food products, directly with on infected animal. Two patients were male had presented with high grade fever fatigue and arthalgia for 2 weeks. On physical examination, body temperature was 39-40 ⁰C, others were normal. The Rose Bengal test was often used for the diagnosis of human brucellosis. The Rose Bengal test was positive in both patients. Treatment for brucellosis was antibiotic. The use of two antibiotics regimen was recommended. The antibiotics most common used include Doxycycline, Rifampicin, Gentamicin and Bactrim. The first patient recieved Doxycycline and Bactrim and second patient recieved Doxycycline and Rifampicin. The antibiotics were used for six weeks.
