Makarak's Team in Neonatal Resuscitation Programe

Abstract

          30.39% of perinatal mortality in Makarak hospital was caused by asphyxia. To reduce perinatal mortality from asphyxia, Makarak‘s team for neonatal resuscitation programm was formed. Three members of the team consisted of anesthetists, nurses from labour room, pediatric ward or intensive care unit. According to specific indication, the team was called to stand by in labour room or operating room when patient beared down or the beginning of operation. They aided neonate for emergency condition prior to doctor comming. Effectiveness of team-work was evaluated. In October 1994 to June 1995, perinatal death from asphyxia was reduced to 16%.
