Abstract

Dissection of one-half of adult pelvis in 197 Thai and 44 Chinese cadavers disclosed that the obturator artery arose from the internal iliac and umbilical arteries in 34.9%, from the inferior gluteal artery in 10.4%, from the internal pudendal artery in 8.7%, from the superior gluteal - inferior gluteal trunk in 4.2%, from the inferior gluteal - internal pudendal trunk in 9.1%, from the inferior epigastric artery in 12.0%, from the external iliac artery in 1.2%, and from the superior gluteal and the inferior epigastric arteries in 0.4%. There were no statistically significant differences of findings between the two sides and the two sexes. The results definitely differ from those found in British but not from Japanese subjects.
