Abstract

An 81-year-old woman presented with a pelvic mass. The computed tomography scan showed a non-calcified solid cystic mass, 10.4x11.5x6.7 centimeters. She underwent total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy and ascitic fluid for cytology. Histopathology reported poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma arising in struma ovarii. Currently she has been free of disease for 5 months from the date of diagnosis.
