Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy in Pediatric Cancer; Clinical Outcome and Risk of Radiation-induced Malignancies
Abstract
Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) allows modulation of beam intensity within treatment fields for conformal RT providing superiority in terms of target coverage, conformity and minimizing dose to organs at risk. Although the risk of secondary malignancies may be increased by IMRT, the outcome in pediatric cancers such as neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and medulloblastoma have been reported with acceptable local control and toxicities. Keywords: Intensity modulated radiation therapy, pediatric cancer
