การวิจัยรูปแบบ The one group pretest-posttest design นี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมสอนการช่วยเหลือขั้นพื้นฐานภาวะหัวใจหยุดเต้นต่อความรู้และทักษะการช่วยเหลือขั้นพื้นฐานของนักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย กลุ่มเป้าหมาย คือ นักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายจำนวน 30 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้วิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล แบบทดสอบความรู้ก่อน–หลังเรียนเกี่ยวกับการช่วยเหลือขั้นพื้นฐานภาวะหัวใจหยุด แบบประเมินทักษะการช่วยฟื้นคืนชีพขั้นพื้นฐาน และโปรแกรมสอนการช่วยเหลือขั้นพื้นฐานภาวะหัวใจหยุดเต้น ประกอบด้วยคู่มือประกอบการสอน สื่อนำเสนอภาพนิ่ง สื่อวีดิทัศน์ ชุดบัตรคำ คู่มือประกอบการเรียน หุ่นจำลองฝึกทักษะการช่วยฟื้นคืนชีพขั้นพื้นฐานสำหรับให้ผู้เรียนฝึกทักษะการช่วยฟื้นคืนชีพขั้นพื้นฐาน โดยผู้วิจัยได้พัฒนาขึ้นจากการทบทวนวรรณกรรม ภายใต้แนวคิดหลักคือห่วงโซ่การรอดชีวิต (Chain of survival) และใช้กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้ตามทฤษฎีการเรียนรู้ของกานเย (Gagne) โดยมีระยะเวลาการดำเนินการวิจัยอยู่ระหว่างเดือนสิงหาคม–กันยายน 2559
ผลการศึกษาพบว่าค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนความรู้ของกลุ่มเป้าหมายภายหลังจากได้รับโปรแกรมสอนสูงกว่าก่อนได้รับโปรแกรมและแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และทักษะการช่วยเหลือขั้นพื้นฐานหลังได้รับโปรแกรมสอน พบว่าสามารถปฏิบัติทักษะได้อย่างถูกต้องเหมาะสมทุกขั้นตอนจำนวน 24 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 80.00 และเปรียบเทียบทักษะก่อนและหลังได้รับโปรแกรมสอน พบว่า มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ข้อเสนอแนะจากการวิจัย คือ ทดลองโปรแกรมในกลุ่มเป้าหมายเพิ่มขึ้นและออกแบบระเบียบวิธีวิจัยให้เป็นไปตามกระบวนการวิจัยเชิงทดลองเพื่อให้ผลการศึกษาสามารถอ้างอิงไปยังกลุ่มประชากรได้ และนำใช้โปรแกรมเพื่อเผยแพร่ความรู้และทักษะให้กว้างขวางยิ่งขึ้น
