Competency of health volunteers in diagnosis and control of Helminthiasis in Teung District, Chiangrai Province 2004

Abstract

           A study on health forming village has purpose to know about actions to support health forming activity by community participation. This study is participatory action research : PAR. Data has been collected by interview, group discussion, health-core community rostrum and consequent report. This study was conducted in 3 villages of Tambon Traiyoi, Amphur Denchai, Phae province that is the health care responsible area of Pakban health station.

          The study show that health forming village consist of At least 10 village health leaders have roles in develop control and supervise health activities Coordination for supporting from government and private agency. Follow up and evaluation. Result from village health activity has found that there are own health clubs in every  villages. 80% of household have cultivated local household vegetable. There is contamination substance inspection in food shop but no contamination is found. An elder  clubs have been set up in Every village and the members have participation to take activity once a month  continuously. These elder also have health checking and from this activity induce them to health learning to each other. Women have health checking for cervical cancer and can exam  breast cancer by themselves. There is activity for screening for hypertension  case in the villages. About knowledge and health behavior are in good level at 100%. Comparing knowledge and understanding about health forming before and after implement a health forming village project has found differential, statistical significant at 95% confidently level  (P-value>0.05) and people have realized on health problem and have  improved health forming behavior.
