Health Promotion of the Elderly in the Nong Song Hong Subdistrict Municipality, Khon Kaen

Abstract

Introduction : Currently, the elderly population is rapidly increasing. And there is a change in the physical, mental, emotional, social status. Without planning, elder care will result in a problem-based.

Objective : 1) To study the situation Health issues And health care of the elderly in Nong Song Hong Subdistrict Municipality. 2) To study the  practices in the health care of the elderly and community networks. 3) To create a prototype area for health promotion of the elderly.

Method : This study was action research. The target group for the study was the Network and the Elderly group of 823 persons. Data were collected through observations, field notes, focus-group interviews, and questionnaires.

Results : 1)The elderly in Nong Song Hong Municipality are elderly with 80% of chronic illnesses, 414 patients are not self-help patients and the elderly can not take care of themselves as well. 2) The health care of the elderly and community networks. Various groups have been established. The elderly, the health fund, the funeral group, etc. Each group will play a role in supporting and solving problems that will arise.3) The effect of building prototype area on health promotion of the elderly. There are plans of sharing networks. To participate in the care of the elderly in the community. And to meet the community context. The health promotion of the Elderly in the Nong Song Hong Subdistrict Municipality under the support and operation of the District Health Board (DHB) .
