Factors affecting hypoglycemia in diabetes patients Kabinburi Hospital

Abstract

Objective : The purpose of this study was find factors that cause hypoglycemia in diabetic patients at Kabinburi hospital.

Method : This study was collected by hospital data base (Retrospective study) in admitted diabetic patients form hypoglycemia during October 1, 2012- September 30, 2013 in Kabinburi hospital.

Results : Patients who were admitted with symptomatic hypoglycemia was 99.1 %. Common symptoms were neuroglycopenic symptoms 91.6 % and drowsiness 27.84 %, Hypokalemia was found 45.83 %, and associated disease was hypertension 59.46 %

Factors causing hypoglycemia were eating less 29 %. Patients were received oral hypoglycemia drug 69.2 % and 40.35 % was treated with metformin. Documented symptomatic hypoglycemia was found 79.5 % and moderate hypoglycemia 93.4 %

Form this study may leading to improve patients education when eating less and how to manage or prevent future hypoglycemic event in diabetic clinic.
