Effect of Self Care Program on Self Care Behavior of the Patient with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent in Mahasarakham Hospital, Mahasarakham Province
Abstract
Background : Almost the Patient with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent after treatment, do not take off Uretheral Double - J Stent on time and have complications. Then, after literature review Self Care Program reduced evidence the patient do not take off Uretheral Double-J Stent on time and complications.
Objective : To examine effects of Self Care Program on Self Care Behavior of the Patient with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent.
Methods : The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to examine effects of Self Care Program on Self Care Behavior of the Patient with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent. Sample consisted of 60 relatives of patients with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent at a hospital in Mahasarakham province.
There were 30 cases in the experimental group and 30 cases in the control group. Research instruments included the patients demographic questionnaire and the Self Care Behavior questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
Results : revealed that 1) After treatment, the average Self Care Behavior score of subjects in experimental group was significantly higher than before treatment (t 29 = 8.164, p < .001); and After treatment, the average Self Care Behavior score of subjects in the experimental group was significantly higher than those in the control group (t 36.46 = 28.58, p < .001) Conclusion : Self Care Program reduced evidence the patient do not take off Uretheral Double - J Stent on time and complications. So that, Nurse and Healthcare providers can use this program for another patient in other hospital for test this program and have a good critical practice guideline in Patient with Indwelling Uretheral Double-J Stent care.
