Prevalence and Factors Associated with Dementia among Elderly Patients in The Psychiatric Department Mahasarakham Hospital

Objective : To examined prevalence and factors associated with dementia among elderly patients in the psychiatric department Mahasarakham Hospital.
Methods : The instruments used in the research were general information and The Mini-Mental State Examination-Thai Version 2002 (MMSE-T2002). Data from 176 medical records of elderly patients were including and analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and binary logistic regression test.
Results : The prevalence of dementia in elderly patients who visited the psychiatric department of Mahasarakham hospital in 2018 was 15.8%. Significant factors associated with dementia (p < 0.05) was dyslipidemia. BPSD were found in 67.7% of subjects
Conclusion : The results suggested the design of care and prevention in dementia among elderly patients who have dyslipidemia.
