Comparison of Local Anesthesia and Spinal Anesthesia for Tension-Free Herniorrhaphy in Mahasarakam Hospital.

Inguinal herniorrhaphy in Mahasarakam hospital use spinal and general anesthesia but both procedure may lead to complication.
Objective : This study design to compare complication ,hospital stay, and cost between local anesthesia and spinal anesthesia for inguinal herniorrhapphy.
Methods : This was prospective randomized clinical trial to study patients were operated inguinal herniorrhaphy in Mahasarakam hospital during August 1, 2016 – December 31, 2017 by spinal anesthesia and local anesthesia. Divided 40 patients to each group. This study were analyzed with independent t-test ,Chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test for statistical analysis.
Results : Demographic data and complication in both groups were not different. Hospital stay and average cost in local anesthesia group were less significant than spinal group
Conclusions : Local anesthesia in inguinal herniorraphy could be performed by less complication, decrease hospital stay and average cost
